Exhibit: Hamilton Makes Steel Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology From the very beginning of settlement, Hamilton-workers made materials from iron. Eventually our city became the largest steel-manufacturing centre in the country. The industry continues today in many forms. Steel-making shaped the landscape, the life-style and the population. This exhibition details the history of iron/steel manufacturing in Hamilton, looking at the processes and changes in the occupation, its products and its workers. Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology In honour of Thomas Keefer, who designed the technology which Hamilton's Waterworks came to adopt, children are invited to the museum to learn about the engineering process. Thomas Keefer Day Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology Join us in celebrating the birthday of Thomas C. Keefer, builder of the 1859 Hamilton Waterworks and a founder of Canada's engineering profession. This year we will be unveiling a copy of a portrait of Mr. Keefer that was painted by the famous Canadian artist, Fosberg.
